Beautiful polaroids from Heather Powazek Champ, I’m particularly enjoying the ones taken on expired Polaroid 600 film (the bottom two shown here).

Seeing beautiful photos like these on flickr just makes me wish for Winter all the more.
- *another* iPhone camera app
-
We were trapped by some rain on a walk into the city over the weekend, so I took the opportunity to play with a new iPhone camera app that I found last week. Silly name, Hipstamatic, but a fun app.
Something I found irritating but now like is that you can’t just run the app as a filter on existing images in your iPhone Photos, it’s nice to have to think about what combination of pretend filters and film you’ll use to take a picture rather than dressing up a boring iPhone photo.
I took screen shots of the app in use… you’d be better off checking out the website :)
*The flower photo was on the way home after the sun had been back out for a while.

coffee splash by donchris!™ [superslow]
I was actually looking at another photograph of a coffee splash shown on the flickr blog, when I realised how much more I like this one. Such interesting colour and details, and this splash is so impressive! Great action shot :)
If I was thinking I would have taken a photo of the results from one of my favourite coffee cups 1/3 full of coffee smashed on the kitchen floor. These cups are about 8 seasons ago from the designer so I wont hold my breath finding a replacement, three is a disappointing number when it comes to cup sets.

I love this photo I took the other day, I’m just so happy with the colour, depth of field, and with my composition. Very pleased. It looks so much better at a slightly larger size.

Karin Bubaš, Rose Coloured Chair
I really like the print, Rose Coloured Chair, the combination of pattern, colour, and the design of the chair really grabs me. It’s only the same as far as subject matter goes, but seeing this photograph makes me think of one I took earlier in the week.
It was a strange stormy day and I felt like taking photos of almost everything I saw. I pulled my camera out to take a photo of a sign I like and an old lady screamed obscenities at me for taking her photo – the camera was pointed nowhere near her direction! Maybe she secretly hoped I would take her portrait? But never mind, I got my photo quickly and left her alone to her grumbling.

I came across this photograph via Design*Sponge, I think it was a post about artistic people and mentioned the creative wedding of one couple. I took a look at the rest of the images, but it was just this one photo of the cake that got me interested.
What a perfect cake – a perfect wedding cake! It’s fun and elegant, not taking itself too seriously, just what a wedding would need I think. The most simple of photos that makes me want to run away and take photos of everything :)

45/365: ah, love, originally uploaded by that cat could knit.
This was the first year I have ever made the slightest Valentines Day gesture – and it was a very small nod to the day at that, and something I would have done any day of the year… sooo I guess I can say that I am still a non-celebrator of valentines day :)
Even the flickr blog photos have made me slightly queasy from the sheer red paper cut-out half dead rose tackiness of the day. It was refreshing to have a smile over this photo.

We ended with a great time away with a visit to friends in Melbourne, and then a stop in Canberra to see the Masterpieces from Paris exhibition at the national gallery. It’s been a week since we’ve been back and things are plodding along slowly, well I’m plodding along slowly :) trying to get back into the swing of things.
It’s interesting being back at climbing, my fingertips and toes hurt quite a lot after the first time back – I didn’t realise how much I missed it! I can’t wait till the next climb, but for the time being my plan is to stay at three times a week instead of four. My feelings may change for the time being after seeing how my shoulder feels tomorrow, I came off the wall from an odd position tonight. I felt my shoulder kind of *pop* then my arm went tingly and then numb… I’m starting to feel some pain through the numbness so hopefully it wont stiffen up overnight or anything.
My knitting is still all over the place, I’ve been working on the Drawstring Chemise by Connie Chang Chinchio, and even though I’m not feeling any enthusiasm over it I am determined to finish it properly lest it join the pile of half finished bits & pieces from over the years. I honestly feel like knitting jumpers! It’s probably a good time to get a head start for winter…

We’ve been staying in a 19th century bluestone in Croydon, South Australia for the past couple of weeks, and a lot like the many old bluestones in this area it has so many beautiful features and potential! I would love to restore one… I have it all planned :)
Of course the exterior has to remain as is and authentic, but with the interior a modern redevelopment while retaining the beautiful features such as the ceiling plaster flourishes (I have no idea what their proper name is), fireplaces, vents, and other beautiful detailing. Then onto the back entertaining area and garden, I love beautiful kitchen/living areas that transition into liveable outdoor space. I have such a beautiful house trapped in my mind at the moment!
I’ll be taking some better photos of the interior features in better lighting before we leave.
We’re leaving at the end of the week to spend some time in Melbourne, and then in Canberra – Masterpieces from Paris at the National Gallery, can’t wait!
