• flexible recipes
  • This cake made it onto my ‘to bake’ list when I first saw it on design*sponge. It looks delicious, fast and flexible – flexibility in a recipe for me is always good.

I’m pretty much incapable of following a recipe without modifying it somehow so baking something that can withstand my meddling without turning into a brick is a fantastic find :-)

Having said that, I do love reading complicated and structured recipes, macarons especially… they make it look so easy I’ve already convinced myself I could make them with no trouble.

  • a little bit sex pistol
  • …or a little bit The Dark Knight?

God Save The Villain, my favourite Threadless shirt for ages.

I haven’t had much time in front of my laptop to post everything I’ve wanted to in the past couple of weeks, I really do wish the Wordpress app for iPhone was more flexible and robust.

Never mind :-) I’m going to try to be less neglectful this week and see how I go – and fingers crossed for more knitting motivation.

  • a day early
  • advanced screening :)

I was lucky to receive from work a double pass to an advanced screening of Alice In Wonderland showing on Wednesday night. I’ve already mentioned multiple times how much I’m looking forward to seeing it, so I’ll leave this at that. (yay!)

  • kerplunk!
  • coffee splash by donchris!™ [superslow]

I was actually looking at another photograph of a coffee splash shown on the flickr blog, when I realised how much more I like this one. Such interesting colour and details, and this splash is so impressive! Great action shot :)

If I was thinking I would have taken a photo of the results from one of my favourite coffee cups 1/3 full of coffee smashed on the kitchen floor. These cups are about 8 seasons ago from the designer so I wont hold my breath finding a replacement, three is a disappointing number when it comes to cup sets.

  • losers weepers
  • I really like the artwork for the Sydney 2010 The Finders Keepers. Definitely take a look at the website of the artist Madeleine Stamer. I missed last years Brisbane event and I’m so looking forward to our time to come around again.

My posts have been pretty sparse these past couple of days I know and I haven’t had a chance for any knitting – I have a work contract for a few weeks that sees me having to actually get dressed and leave the house rather than sit at my own desk all day. It’s pretty enjoyable work so it’s worth the sacrifice of having to change out of pyjamas in the morning and not being able to say blog in the middle of the day or take a knitting/lunch break :)

  • new purl soho
  • The location of the new Purl Soho is gorgeous! The old shop was very cute, I actually asked John to take a photo of it while he was in New York last year, but this building has so much potential. The fire escape makes it. In my dream we would live over the entire top floor with a private roof top garden to rival the best.

  • chairs
  • Karin Bubaš, Rose Coloured Chair

    green chair upstairs

I really like the print, Rose Coloured Chair, the combination of pattern, colour, and the design of the chair really grabs me. It’s only the same as far as subject matter goes, but seeing this photograph makes me think of one I took earlier in the week.

It was a strange stormy day and I felt like taking photos of almost everything I saw. I pulled my camera out to take a photo of a sign I like and an old lady screamed obscenities at me for taking her photo – the camera was pointed nowhere near her direction! Maybe she secretly hoped I would take her portrait? But never mind, I got my photo quickly and left her alone to her grumbling.

  • get clean
  • 45/365: ah, love, originally uploaded by that cat could knit.

This was the first year I have ever made the slightest Valentines Day gesture – and it was a very small nod to the day at that, and something I would have done any day of the year… sooo I guess I can say that I am still a non-celebrator of valentines day :)

Even the flickr blog photos have made me slightly queasy from the sheer red paper cut-out half dead rose tackiness of the day. It was refreshing to have a smile over this photo.

  • how to report the news
  • This video gave me such a laugh, and then a little bit of a cry thinking about the rubbish they put on “current affairs” programs on commercial television stations in Australia…

One program that makes me actually angry to think about is Today Tonight – I guess the real problem is the people that watch it thinking that sensationalist rubbish about supermarket pricing, diets, immigration exposés, (telephone company exposés, centrelink exposés, blah blah) and cheap fashion shopping is actual factual news.

    Thanks John ;)
