- tea towel collection?
-
Ever since I picked up a tea towel at the Masterpieces from Paris exhibition in January I’ve felt like starting a collection… I know, this could be sending me into pretty daggy territory, but it could be fun finding designs I like :) So many artists are seeing the fun in the tea towel as a canvas and taking the opportunity to get some fantastic designs out there.
ToDryFor.com is a collection of tea towels from various textile designers (via swissmiss), and as soon as I find it again I’ll share the link to some amazing japanese dish cloths.

These bud vases are from the collection of American potter Frances Palmer. I enjoy the simplicity of her more mass produced pieces and the freedom to choose from her colour range for each piece, but :) if it wasn’t a colour day for me I’d be posting about how much I love the quirky asymmetrical details of her hand made pieces (take a look through all of her vases, they’re fantastic).
Today I feel like surrounding myself with colour. I feel like sewing, making things with my hands, I even feel like baking.
- sewing morning
-
I started a bit of a sewing session last night which ended this morning and produced a curtain for John’s kitchen and a pile of cushions for the couch. I just love the piglet fabric from etsuko furuya, I have a bit left so I’m thinking of how to make best use of it.
There are a couple more little bits I want to sew but right now it’s time to check out the new Doctor (apparently he’s brilliant!) and catch up on a some knitting.

abat-jour papel [5] by rie elise larsen
Pretty paper lampshade found on loja de estar, I love the pattern combined with the ribbon tie. The choice for hanging or table top lamp structure is really helpful, I’ve found that’s an option not usually available and one that I usually wish for :)

Piglet Green Linen/Cotton, Solid Mustard, Solid Blue, from Echino
I have in mind some cushions for these fabrics, slip covers fastened in the back with a row of vintage buttons. My first thought is two cushions of similar size with the Piglet Green on the front, Solid Mustard on the back, and different buttons on each… I have so many vintage buttons that I need to stop hoarding and start using. The Solid Blue is reserved for a fun cushion I plan to embroider :) I feel a bit daggy saying that! It will look great though, I’ll share the details when it’s definite because I’m likely to change my mind and make a couple of solid colour cushions to sit with the Piglet Greens. In that case the embroidered front will either go on the wall, or possibly I’ll make it into a little 3-d item and put it on a shelf. Either way, it’s a case of decorating madness at my house at the moment.
I love the textile designs of Etsuko Furuya! Beautiful patterns with elements from nature, gorgeous colours too. I definitely see some more Echino purchases in my future.

Glass bowl with a dash of red
I saw this bowl in DJ’s this morning, it’s absolutely stunning! I was taking a couple of photos when a older sales lady approached me with such a snooty expression on her face to ask me what I was doing… It seriously took all my willpower to not take a quick photo of her! It was quite funny but unnecessarily rude, I wasn’t hurting the bowl by taking it’s photo :)

Double Love Chair from Deadgood VIA Design Milk
Oooo I love this chair!
It will debut as part of the London Design Festival (19-27 September). There is not one chance I will make it so I think I’ll have to order the festival guide and pretend that I’m going. Sure I could download it, but that’s not the same as having that nice little book full of maps and information to flip through :)

This baby wouldn’t be out of place in my new office – sitting somewhere high with a view from the whole room ;) . It still has an original sticker on top that reads “Commended by Parents Magazine and advertised therein”.

After we move in October I’m planning on decorating my new office just the way I want & this shifty looking couple definitely need to be there :) They remind me of characters from Scooby-Doo! I was never the biggest fan of that cartoon growing up but I always loved it when the bad guy spied from behind paintings on the wall.

Not the best pictures, the street was reflected so much in the window I had to edit these to reveal the lamps properly, but what lovely lamps! Except for the pixelated colour one which isn’t really by taste, I would find it difficult to choose just one :)
I especially like the colour & pattern of the first two, and the lovely pattern and soft white colour of the two lamps on the left in the second photo, particularly the one with the more detailed fan pattern.
