Lost… it was such a love it or hate it tv series.

I loved it :) In so many ways it was a fantastic story and I am not disappointed in the ending at all – how else could it end?! Not one person I know likes Lost and I really think they’re all missing out, I enjoyed even the seasons that went off track and seemed pointless.

I’d love something cool, besides each season on blu-ray (currently only have them on dvd…) to memorialise the series and I’ve found two sites selling products that definitely fit the bill.

The auction of  small props used during the filming is currently being previewed, the website unfortunately gives no indication of the auction date – I would LOVE some Dharma Initiative beer cans or condiment bottles!

Also, artist Ty Mattson is selling silk screened prints with a perfect retro feel on the abc site, there are 3 or 4 prints I could definitely live with them hanging on my walls. My favourite is the print I’m showing here because the story line of Locke is one that I particularly liked, I really did love that character.

I love to happen across quirky little signs like this one I spotted on my way back from vegie shopping this morning. It reminds of this sticker we saw over at South Bank a couple of weeks ago, except that this is not deliberately ironic, which makes it a far better find. It’s a mailbox, but it’s not a mail box.

It definitely looks to me that Lisa Gair found some inspiration for her blue ALICE in Charles Blackman’s The Blue Alice. It felt exciting to spot these two within a couple of weeks of each other, I like both works a lot.

I have some more photos of sculptures by Lisa Gair currently being exhibited at Fusions Gallery in Fortitude Valley – they have an Alice in Wonderland theme and they’re all interesting, fun & a little bit weird.

A wax model and a pop up book originally used in the training of 19th Century medical students and ended up being used for entertaining and educating the general public. Audio slideshow on the BBC with the curator of the Wellcome Collection.

Spotted on my way to work this morning – simply too perfect to walk past without capturing.

I’ve discovered and am now using a new flickr app for the iPhone 3GS, Mobile Fotos. Previously I was using the free app Flickit but their ‘original’ resolution upload option still hasn’t been updated for the 3GS.

I’m really happy with the features and functionality of Mobile Fotos so far, the only issue that I have to look into (might be due to the annoyingly slow wifi here at work) is the speed in which it uploads each photo. The iPhone goes to sleep before even one upload completes, the app times out and gives connection errors… but I do suspect the issue is the connection I was on this morning.

I’m still on a font hunting frenzy and this is my favourite find of today. It was the scroll and initial ornaments that sucked me in at first, especially the scrolls, but the rest has grown on me. I really do like the way the italics work with the regular – I’m not normally an italics person, so this was a nice discovery.

I was looking for more info & feedback about Olduvai and came across a forum post on typophile where the font’s designer Randy Jones of Aquatoad jumped in and provided some advice to a user who was having some difficulties with the ornaments. It was nice to see that he was so friendly, helpful & posted images demonstrating the solution.

Now to find a project Olduvai would be perfect for to justify the purchase :)

Stitching up the NGA

From Tuesday 7 to Sunday 12 July, Magda Sayeg founder of Knitta Please and artist Denise Litchfield, are transforming the entrance and foyer of the the National Gallery of Australia. If you’ve never looked into Knitta Please you really should, guerrilla knitting looks like a lot of fun.

Knitters are invited to help create pieces that measure 10–20 cm wide and 140 cm long, which will be stitched together to create coverings for 6 large concrete poles at the front of the National Gallery of Australia. Any colour, yarn and technique is accepted—the brighter and wackier, the better!

Even though I can’t get to Canberra to see the fun in person, I cannot wait to send in my swatch! Check the NGA event highlights for more details.

These are delightful pictures, they really make me smile. It was hard to choose just one to show here, but the processing on this won me over – I’m a sucker for vignetting with good contrast and muted colours.

I’m seeing a lot of talk about the soon to be released Whale Salt & Pepper Shakers from Jonathan Adler :) I love them! I’ve been looking for the perfect set for years and these fit the bill very nicely… and the best part is that buying these would practically demand I also get the Whale Butter Dish I have drooled over for so long :)

(Sorry, I can’t remember where I first read about the new shakers, or where I found the images… I do know that almost every design site I read has mentioned them)
