Last Sunday’s hike was more of the type of hike I like (compared to the week before) and even though it was still a shorter distance and easier difficulty than we would select for just ourselves, we found that it was just about perfect for taking a (nearly) 6 month old on. 11.6km, grade: easy.
What beautiful scenery we were treated to on the Mornington Peninsula! We began in the Bushrangers Bay Carpark on Boneo Road, and following the Bushrangers Bay Walking Track we made our way along the coast overlooking the clear waters of Bass Strait to Cape Schanck.
Kiki needed a long break at Cape Schanck, some shade and space to roll around on the blanket, this was really difficult to find! To enter the grassed area surrounding the lighthouse you have to pay the “tour” fee, and their is just a big car park with a couple of picnic tables – one in the shade! We spread the blanket half into the scrub and she was happy to explore for a good 45min/1hour.
The coast was wonderful, next time I’m thinking some rainforest might be nice…
