trauma

Laura Strasser creates some beautiful porcelain pieces, I love the Service Rice pieces and would be so happy to have them in my home, but of course the Trauma series caught my attention straight away :)

Each piece is hand crocheted, dipped in a porcelain sludge, and in the firing process the crocheted thread burns away leaving the delicate but sturdy porcelain casing behind.

Her With Love From China busts are just stunning, making me think of the busts by Ah Xian. I really do have a love of beautiful and imaginative porcelain, one day I’ll give making my own a try.

loic

I’ve seen the work of Loic before, but I was reminded how much I love his style when following links from Marisa Kakoulas’s recent post on Needles and Sins about her new foot tattoo. You should really check out the Needles & Sins site if you’re looking for intelligent and interesting articles and information about tattoos, artists, conventions etc.

Back to Loic! His tattoos are unlike so much of the old school style work that is so popular at the moment, imaginative with beautiful colour and typography.

I’m wishing for more tattoos at the moment, but as I think I’ve mentioned before I’m still at the dreaming stage, this will last another year or two… but I imagine I’ll work on extending my sleeve :)

happy to be out of the archives

I think this is going to be so much  fun!

Sign up for Photojojo’s Photo Time Capsule and at the start and middle of each month  you’ll receive an email with photos you uploaded to flickr a year ago. It automatically chooses photos that have been most favourited, commented on or rated most interesting. I can’t wait to receive my first email!

So often I’ll come across a flickr photo and realise I’d completely forgotten about it, this photo I took and for whatever reason loved while I was taking and uploading it. I love the rush of memories you get of that day and everything you were doing on it.

This is the main reason why I randomised my flickr feed here in my sidebar, so much more interesting to see some random photo from the years that I’ve been uploading to flickr than the most recent you can easily see just by going to my flickr homepage.

Go straight away to this page and watch the Mad Men clip included at the bottom of the page :)

honeybee is flying along

Excuse the phone photo but I wanted to share how fast my Honeybee Cardigan is knitting up. It’s been a busy week with not much knitting time and I’m already 9 inches into the lace (plus the two inches rib), only a couple more and I’ll start on the sleeves! I’m really looking forward to blocking this cardigan, the lace is going to look amazing.

I’ll take some photos of my finished Grecian Top and Embossed Leaves socks soon, with Winter approaching I seem to be continually running out of daylight hours to photograph what I need to. Of course, as happens every year, it’s getting to those low temperatures where I wish I had begun winter knitting sooner :) so I need to get cracking on my Carnaby Street Pullover.

all who wander

Seeing this poster in the etsy email this morning gave me a smile. For some reason seemed just the thought to start this new week :)
