Henry knitty ravelry

Finally finished! This scarf for John took me a lot longer to complete than I had originally expected, the plan was to have it finished before he left for Adelaide on July 1st, I thought it would be perfect for the winter down there. I’ve finished it just in time for the hottest end of winter temperatures ever… I love this weather! Summer in Winter, what could be better?! But not exactly scarf wearing weather :)

I was not happy with the appearance of the cast on edge, the pattern claims it matches the cast off edge but it really doesn’t. I couldn’t be happy with the long edges looking so completely different so I picked up all 200+ (270 I think, this scarf is knit lengthways) stitches along the cast on edge and repeated the finishing four rows of the pattern and cast off in the same way. Perfect.

The Malabrigo Sock (Tiziano Red) is such a pleasure to work with, the combination of long rows and simple woven herringbone stitch pattern made this a very meditative project. I felt great satisfaction after blocking the scarf, but having said that I don’t believe I would ever make this scarf again. Once is enough :)

perfection

It’s about whittling. It’s about taking something and whittling and whittling and getting it sharp and perfect. Then you’ve got something.

There are many beautiful images on theĀ tokyo, japan. august, 2009 page of Rob Sheridan’s website, but this made an immediate impact on me. This is usually the case with photos of clouds, they’re beautiful with so much happening and so much detail.

This image in particular suggests to me rising above and heading towards something, I like it.
