Manon

I’m really enjoying the beginnings of this jacket/cardigan, hopefully the enthusiasm will keep up because there is a limited amount of time in Brisbane in which to wear a wool short sleeved top. The construction is typical of most Norah Gaughan patterns, with interesting details, cables, and shapes.

For the knitters who are interested in this pattern I would definitely look at the wip photos like mine above on Ravelry and flickr. Initially I was unable to visual how, after knitting the peplum center triangle you were meant to go about casting on stitches, picking up stitches from the triangle, and then casting on a couple more stitches. The pattern instructions are clear but absent are schematic diagrams showing the construction, there are some small diagrams showing measurements of pieces though.

The best advice I can give for this is to cast on using the long tail method, pick up the stitches along the side of the center triangle (from bottom to top) alternating between the tail and main yarn, and then continue the long tail cast on for the remaining  18 sts (the ribbing for the waistband from the top of the triangle).

I can’t wait to wear this!
