:(
I’ve been knitting on autopilot this week. My advice is when you have other things on your mind, read all instructions more carefully than you would ordinarily need to… Example:
Work straight in st st until piece measures 12″ from beg. = to a distracted mind, Work straight in st st until piece measures 12″ from beg of st st… *sigh*
I started thinking, for a cropped jacket this is very long, but it is the entire back so that’s no short distance. Then I hit the shape armholes instructions instead of some interesting shape neck detailing that I was starting to expect. So I have about 9″ to rip back. Oh well, at least I realised now and didn’t just keep going & that will save a lot of pain later :)

I love to happen across quirky little signs like this one I spotted on my way back from vegie shopping this morning. It reminds of this sticker we saw over at South Bank a couple of weeks ago, except that this is not deliberately ironic, which makes it a far better find. It’s a mailbox, but it’s not a mail box.

I’ve just set up my blog details in flickr so that I can blog photographs directly, this is one of my favourites.

Whisper cardigan ravelry
I’m glad I’ve finished this cardigan, but I’m not over the moon with joy about how it’s turned out. I stand by my decision to work this using smaller needles without increasing the garment size to create a close fitting cardigan with a denser fabric than was intended by the original pattern.
What I didn’t anticipate is that the continued increases on the inside edge would create a very odd shape, & with the denser fabric it kind of sticks out strangely, as thought it’s extending out into ties and I should tie them together. I should have stopped increasing stitches after I hit the bust, or at least only increased every 10 rows or so. I don’t see myself wearing this if I don’t come up with a solution for this.
I love the new singlet shirt I’m wearing under it in this photo I just took of myself. It’s not my usual style with little ruffles on the sleeves, but it works for me somehow with a very flattering square neckline. It looks perfect with the high waisted black pants I bought a little while ago, I’ve just found my new favourite outfit :)

Finally finished! This scarf for John took me a lot longer to complete than I had originally expected, the plan was to have it finished before he left for Adelaide on July 1st, I thought it would be perfect for the winter down there. I’ve finished it just in time for the hottest end of winter temperatures ever… I love this weather! Summer in Winter, what could be better?! But not exactly scarf wearing weather :)
I was not happy with the appearance of the cast on edge, the pattern claims it matches the cast off edge but it really doesn’t. I couldn’t be happy with the long edges looking so completely different so I picked up all 200+ (270 I think, this scarf is knit lengthways) stitches along the cast on edge and repeated the finishing four rows of the pattern and cast off in the same way. Perfect.
The Malabrigo Sock (Tiziano Red) is such a pleasure to work with, the combination of long rows and simple woven herringbone stitch pattern made this a very meditative project. I felt great satisfaction after blocking the scarf, but having said that I don’t believe I would ever make this scarf again. Once is enough :)

All business up front.
Party in the back.
- perfection
It’s about whittling. It’s about taking something and whittling and whittling and getting it sharp and perfect. Then you’ve got something.

Above the Japanese coast, with Tokyo visible in the distance Rob Sheridan
There are many beautiful images on the tokyo, japan. august, 2009 page of Rob Sheridan’s website, but this made an immediate impact on me. This is usually the case with photos of clouds, they’re beautiful with so much happening and so much detail.
This image in particular suggests to me rising above and heading towards something, I like it.
