Unless you are blind, walk around with your eyes closed or head constantly in the clouds it is unavoidable nowadays to be assaulted by advertising on a daily basis. I choose to seek out marketing materials, advertising and promotional designs, but that doesn’t mean I enjoy being forced to see any old rubbish that someone else has decided I must see.
Having said that… I wouldn’t have to chosen to put this sign over these particular posters. They’re a lot of fun :)
I’m reminded of something Banksy said about visual pollution, I think partially in defense of his work:
The people who truly deface our neighbourhoods are the companies that scrawl giant slogans across buildings and buses trying to make us feel inadequate unless we buy their stuff. They expect to be able to shout their message in your face from every available surface but you’re never allowed to answer back.
