- Now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem!

The second unmentionable was a lady, and much longer dead than her companion. She rushed at Elizabeth, her clawed fingers swaying clumsily about. Elizabeth lifted her skirt–a rather immodest gesture necessitated by circumstance–and delivered a swift kick to the creature’s head, which exploded in a cloud of brittle skin and bone. She, too, fell and was no more.
It’s not going to be to everyone’s taste but I really don’t think this would have been published with quite so much fan fare if it was all out stupid – the publishers & author have received enough flak for ‘butchering a classic’ without risking additional criticism for poor writing or poor implementation of this idea. I read one review that stated (sorry can’t remember where) that it was a surprisingly literary hybrid, and 80% of the copy is original Austin.
I’m really looking forward to picking up a copy, it’s a fun idea. By all accounts & plainly evident by reading her novels, Jane Austen had a fantastic sense of humour, I don’t think she would have minded Pride and Prejudice and Zombies one bit.
