Crochet table by Moooi at SPACE furniture
We were having a browse at SPACE the other week when I came across these crocheted side tables. I haven’t seen them before even though these particular ones have been around since 2001. Designed by Marcel Wanders for Moooi using crochet cotton and epoxy resin, handmade by his crochet team. Imagine your business cards, Flower Motif Specialist, Marcel Wanders Crochet Team :)
Moooi has a quite a few designs that I like to look at:
I would definitely buy the Rabbit Lamp on an impulse, although I’d like it more in a different colour – & the Pig Table just made me smile, I can see this as a side table in a reception area… or some sort of information stand in a butchery!
- daily hours of sunshine
-
Designed and screenprinted by interaction designer Sven Ellingen. It displays the daily hours of sunlight from 30 years ago on a calendar of 2008, I really like the concept and the clean design.
It would be completely depressing at the moment to see in print how the sunshine is rapidly declining here in the lead up to winter. It’s just wrong that it’s night by 6pm, I’m still in summer mode.

I’m a sucker for well laid out glossy magazines. Entertaining and interesting stories & interviews, good photography, maximum white space and some focus on the typography. I really like the first picture of Mia Farrow, it reminds me it’s been a while since I watched Rosemary’s Baby, & in the second I have no idea who this is. I like this picture for a two page spread, it looks interesting to me, unfortunately in the online preview it wasn’t possible to read the caption.
There is little information for Australian’s interested in this magazine, but there’s an email contact for subscribers not in the US/Europe/UK. My local newsagents are pretty poor so it would be a waste of time looking there but I’m sure it’s available at lots of places, most likely at borders.

At the risk of turning scatterpig into a look what I found on etsy blog…. look what I found on etsy!
I’ve mentioned a blackeyedsuzy creation before, I’d love to have an occasion to have one of these made, what a great idea! I love her style. & who wouldn’t want felt deer head mounted on their wall? :) fantastic.
- dala horse

Dala Horse from The Cottage CheeseTraditional swedish toy/handcraft. This really caught my eye – I love wooden and tin toys.
- giant chickens
I couldn’t resist another ‘giant’ post :) I don’t know which I’d like more, the sketch of this design or the actual product.
I can’t remember where I first came across this chicken mentioned, but you can find it and more great designs at Hayon Studio.
It’s a little hard to see, but I took this picture of giant rooster last year – if I was more daring I would have run into this persons backyard quickly for a closer picture…
- giant baby
-
I knew the picture John took of the giant doll/puppet in the street reminded me of something – I went through my bookmarks earlier & found this link I’ve been saving.
Apparently the baby lived on top of a petrol station for years before taking up residence in a Parisian design studio. Want :)

Lost and Found preview. (via swissmiss)
This is so beautiful I had to watch it twice – the animation is lovely and combined with the soundtrack it has a very whimsical feel.
It really made me smile, I look forward to seeing the whole film.
Funny weekend this… I’ve spent most of it working on some stressful projects – but I’ve accomplished a lot, which is great. A couple of really nice moments :) – seeing a picture John took yesterday of a giant doll in the street (I love this! If I been there to take my own photo I would hang it on the wall), winding a skein of 100% silk Hand Maiden yarn by hand, drooling over fonts with fantastic discretionary ligatures and stylistic alternatives – and one with some crazy contextual swash options :)
and hanging new pictures on the wall… so yeah, not a bad weekend at all.
