police

Police station sign, Brunswick Street. Holga with Fujichrome Provia

I want to take a photo of this sign everytime I see it. I particularly like the location of the light leaks in this picture and the way they compliment the general atmosphere & mood from the cloudy overcast day.

I’m going to wait for a very sunny day, the kind with beautifully formed cumulus clouds & get some more shots. I’m interested to see them together, same subject with a completely different feel.

John waiting for taxi to the airport. Taken with Holga on Fujichrom Provia 100F.

I bought this film in a pack of 10, so plenty of time to get used to it :) but these first experiments haven’t convinced me it’s worth the extra developing costs…

I have Holga taped up tightly but I don’t have the foam inserts in her at the moment that usually keep the film from winding too loosely & so there’s some major light leaks from when I unloaded the film. I like light leaks & what they add to some pictures but when the film is wound this loosely I think it the major cause of this dull washed out look. Having said that – I love the muted 70′s feel to this picture & that you can see the 4 from the film backing :)

I’m really disappointed that the photo lab I have been using wouldn’t cross process in C41 for me, so I’m looking for a new place to take my film – I’d even deal with the extra waiting to post them somewhere as long as I could be sure they wouldn’t colour correct the scans. Getting a scanner for 120 would be the best option but it’s not worth it before getting a new laptop that can handle the file sizes.

I don’t know if I will end up posting anything of any interest with any kind of regularity, but I start this blog with enthusiastic intentions (I start a lot of things with enthusiastic intentions).  I want to share my interest in knitting, photography, typography and design…

& this is sounding like a mission statement :) But really this blog is more for my enjoyment rather than the possibility of more than a couple of other people looking at what I’m posting. I love this format & plan to use this space as a record of ideas, photos I like, pictures of whatever I’m knitting/crocheting/sewing/creating, and websites I come across that I hope other people are looking at and appreciating as much as I do.
